Responsibilities

  • Plan, monitor, and evaluate chemical experiments in close collaboration with laboratory staff, adhering to safety and compliance standards.
  • Develop experiments to investigate and optimize reaction conditions, employing automation and AI-assisted tools to improve yield, quality, cost, patentability, sustainability, and safety.
  • Act as scientific contact for catalyst screening and reaction optimization, contributing current expertise.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a closed-loop platform with a focus on iterative optimization and automation of reaction screening processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams – including process chemists, IT specialists, and automation engineers – to integrate new technologies.
  • Analyze data and interpret experimental results to derive data-driven decisions.
  • Document experimental procedures, results, and protocols comprehensively and maintain them continuously.
  • Present results and progress to internal stakeholders and at external conferences and workshops.

Qualifications

  • PhD in organic or organometallic chemistry, Digital Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Excellent knowledge of classical and modern synthetic methods and of digital, automated, and data-science tools in chemistry.
  • Proven experience in high-throughput screening, in a high-pressure lab, in automation, and in integrating data-science tools in the lab.
  • Strong knowledge of human-in-the-loop and closed-loop systems.
  • Strong communication skills and proactive cross-disciplinary collaboration to solve challenges.
  • High initiative and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Fluent German and English, both written and spoken.
