Co-Founder & CTO (EdTech) — Angular/Node/MongoDB

Be a true co-owner and start something BIG with us. We are a young, ambitious edtech startup founded by a teacher with 15 years of teaching experience. Cucua is a software that saves teachers up to 8 hours a week by automated tests, feedbacks and performance monitors. Our MVP is almost finished—only a handful of tasks remain before we ship and start scaling. We’re looking for a hands-on Co-Founder & CTO who’s strongest on the backend (Node + MongoDB), comfortable with Angular on the frontend, and excited to help lead us from launch to growth.

Timing: We’re targeting a launch in early November 2025 and want to start ASAP.

Compensation: This is an equity-first role (no salary until the first investment) with a significant ownership stake and real decision-making power.

What you’ll do

  • Own the technology roadmap from MVP completion to scalable, secure, high-quality product.
  • Collaborate on strategy with the founding team: product priorities, customer feedback loops, hiring plans, and investor conversations.
  • Wear startup hats: from architecture to devops to quick UI tweaks—whatever moves the needle.
  • Ship code daily (especially backend). You’ll architect, implement, review PRs, manage releases, and monitor production.
  • Finish MVP: close out remaining tickets, harden the stack, set up CI/CD, testing, observability, and core analytics.
  • Migrate from prototype to a scalable web app after first release: evolve architecture (clear modular boundaries, API versioning), refine data models and migrations, add caching/queuing and rate limiting, introduce SLOs/monitoring, strengthen security (OWASP/GDPR), and establish infra-as-code with robust CI/CD for a growing team.
  • First months (until the first investment) will be mostly remote. After that, we will open an in-person office.

Our stack (current & near-term)

  • Frontend: Angular
  • Infra/DevOps: CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions), Docker, cloud hosting (AWS/GCP), logging/metrics/alerts
  • Quality: Jest or similar, E2E testing, linting/formatting, basic security checks

What you bring

  • Willingness to relocate to the Mannheim, Germany area within the next year.
  • Founder mindset: drive, great communication, ownership, and resilience.
  • 7+ years professional software development, with deep backend expertise in Node.js and MongoDB.
  • Solid Angular experience (enough to implement features and guide standards).
  • Proven track record shipping production systems end-to-end (architecture, data modeling, testing, deployment, monitoring).
  • Strong grasp of security, reliability, and performance in cloud environments.
  • Product sense: you translate user needs and business goals into pragmatic technical choices.
