Position Summary

Catalent’s Schorndorf location is the flagship EU manufacturing location and centre of excellence for large‑scale reliable supply of complex controlled‑release oral solid dose forms through state‑of‑the‑art fluid bed granulation, roller compaction and hot melt extrusion capabilities, integrated development, commercial manufacture, and packaging. The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure that financial results are reported accurately and timely monthly. In addition to the financial reporting responsibility, this position is expected to bring business partnership skills and become an integral part of the site management team. The Finance Director provides overall direction and advice relative to financial results, objectives, and the plan of the German facility, which is part of the Pharma & Consumer Health group Catalent Pharma Solutions. Manages and supervises, on a day‑to‑day basis, financial aspects of the facility. Finally, the role with provide site and Catalent management with a wide variety of financial analysis and support.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis (10%) – Ensure all monthly financial reporting requirements are met accurately and timely, providing meaningful financial information and analysis to VP Finance and local management team.
  • Financial Forecasting (10%) – Lead site management forecast review monthly, submit timely to meet Corporate Finance deadlines, call with Business Unit team to explain actual results and drivers for forecast changes.
  • Business Participation (20%) – Provide financial and business input into site management team meetings; partner with the site general manager to make day‑to‑day operating decisions regarding capital improvements, staff planning and operational improvements.
  • Internal Control/Audit (10%) – Ensure Schorndorf facility follows Catalent Pharma Solutions financial policies, procedures and GAAP.
  • Capital Appropriations Request (CAR) Process (5%) – Oversee accurate loading of CARs into Catalent Capex System (CCS) for senior management review.
  • Annual Budget (10%) – Coordinate the annual budget process, setting requirements, timetables and aligning with corporate expectations.
  • Strategic Planning (5%) – Manage the annual five‑year strategic planning process in coordination with VP Finance and VP/GM Softgel, analyzing initiatives that support site growth and tracking progress.
  • Local Statutory Reporting (10%) – Handle local tax filings (VAT, income tax, etc.) and corporate governance, preparing year‑end statutory accounts and audit schedules, and coordinating year‑end audit.
  • Cash Management (5%) – Manage daily cash, monthly cash flow and debt forecasts, administer company loans, initiate interest payments and manage foreign currency exposure.
  • Staff Development (15%) – Ensure finance associates meet performance standards, identify development needs, communicate plans, and implement development plans.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Candidate Qualifications

  • BA/BS (or Equivalent) in accounting or business.
  • 10 years of progressive Finance experience in a manufacturing environment, including 3–5 years finance leadership in a medium‑to‑large organisation; pharmaceutical manufacturing experience desired.
  • Experience with Lean implementation desired.
  • Professional designations (CPA, CMA) or additional education (MBA) required.
  • Significant exposure to Business Development involving negotiations with customers, suppliers and third parties.
  • Strong operations background with ability to establish precise pricing and costing controls.
  • Fluency in German & English required.
