Jobbeschreibung

General information

The Chair of Digital Marketing deals with marketing issues and the central challenges of digitalization. In doing so, we work closely with renowned companies. During your doctorate, we will accompany and support you in identifying exciting questions at the interface between science and practice and in developing innovative approaches to solutions. An exemplary current project is concerned with a “data-driven understanding of the city center ecosystem”. To this end, we are developing field experiments in shopping centers with practice partners from the stationary retail sector and linking the findings with movement and sales data from retail stores as well as pedestrian frequency data from the city center. Further research activities of our chair can be found at www.whu.edu/digital.

Your mission

  • Your main task will be to carry out research projects and write your dissertation.
  • Core topics of your dissertation can be, for example: topics related to the inner city ecosystem, the use of large language models in companies (opportunities, challenges, biases), measuring customer lifetime value or optimizing digital marketing activities.
  • Your work will be empirical, i.e. using transactional data or in-house collected experimental data.
  • You will present your results at international conferences or to scientific partners and aim to publish them in internationally renowned scientific journals.
  • You will support the chair in administration and teaching, but this will be closely linked to your research activities.

Your profile

  • First and foremost, we are looking for enthusiastic and curious colleagues to join our team. You should have a passion for empirical research and independence in leading projects.
  • Excellent (upcoming) master's degree in economics, business informatics, engineering or mathematics. Your previous study focus may also gladly be outside of marketing.
  • Very good knowledge of English and ideally experience in data analysis, programming or modeling. Excellent German language skills are also required for collaboration with practice partners.
  • We will support you in your scientific career, your doctorate and the development of your personal skills. For example, by regularly attending and presenting at conferences, participating in doctoral colloquia and taking part in targeted doctoral courses.
