About our client

Our client, a rapidly growing professional services firm, is seeking a Head of Finance to join them on their exciting growth journey. Backed by a high‑calibre, entrepreneurial investor private equity fund, the company is pursuing an ambitious expansion strategy through targeted buy‑and‑build, technology enablement, and organic growth.

To support this next phase, they are looking for a Head of Finance to design, implement, and optimize scalable financial systems and processes that will form the backbone of the company's continued growth and long‑term success. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the financial and strategic direction of a dynamic, fast‑evolving business. The platform is targeting to reach €20‑30M EBITDA, and offers ample opportunity to grow with the demands of the role. Strong preference for role to be based in Berlin, Germany (HQ of platform).

What the job involves

• Build and lead a best‑in‑class finance function, driving operational excellence and supporting strategic growth
• Partner with the management team to shape and execute the company's business strategy
• Develop robust financial models and performance metrics to enable data‑driven decision‑making
• Deliver accurate, insightful financial reporting to guide both strategic and operational performance
• Oversee budgeting, financial controls, and forecasting to ensure transparency and accuracy
• Oversee the financial management of subsidiaries and holding entities, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with accounting standards
• Identify, implement, and optimize state‑of‑the‑art management information systems and KPI frameworks
• Foster strong relationships with financial institutions to optimize capital structure and liquidity
• Support M&A transactions, ensuring seamless post‑merger integration and sustainable value creation
• Continuously enhance finance processes, controlling instruments, and analytical tools
• Act as the primary contact for auditors, tax advisors, and key investors

Who we are looking for

• University degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification
• Several years of professional experience in a finance role, ideally within a similar buy‑and‑build environment
• Previous experience in a PE‑backed company is highly beneficial, as is a Big Four background
• Prior leadership experience would be advantageous
• Strong knowledge of Lucanet, DATEV, and Excel, as well as experience implementing and using relevant consolidation and reporting tools
• Proven experience working with tax advisors, auditors, equity investors, and debt providers
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a hands‑on, can‑do attitude
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Excellent analytical skills combined with a structured and detail‑oriented working style
• Ability to understand and clearly communicate complex financial matters
• High level of proactiveness, accountability, and solution orientation
• Fluency in both German and English
