SDET Engineer in Kotlin Performance QA team
Join to apply for the SDET Engineer in Kotlin Performance QA team role at JetBrains.
At JetBrains, code is our passion. We are a rapidly growing software development company on a mission to create the best development tools in the world. Our products help millions of developers worldwide be more productive and achieve better results faster. We work on challenging problems, collaborate with the brightest minds in the industry, and experiment with new and exciting technologies to deliver innovative solutions that make a real difference.
We are currently seeking a talented and ambitious SDET Engineer to join our Kotlin Performance QA team. Our goal in the Kotlin Ecosystem Department is to make performance easily trackable, helping developers identify degradations and conduct optimization research. For example, we are building a platform that processes and visualises developers' benchmarks, providing advanced analytics.
While hands‑on performance testing experience is essential, the primary focus of this role will be on building and integrating tools to assist developers, rather than solely investigating issues. You should be passionate about software performance, highly motivated, and eager to learn and advance your career. This role offers a significant opportunity to influence the industry and contribute to the future of software development.
In This Role, You Will
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to share expertise and technology stacks in the process of performance testing tooling creation.
- Develop and maintain benchmark infrastructure, profiling tools, and testing frameworks to measure and analyze performance metrics.
- Help developers analyse complex performance issues and identify their root causes.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to team discussions on performance‑related topics.
We will be happy to have you on our team if you:
- Have a strong professional background, such as three or more years of experience in software development, automation testing, or performance engineering.
- Possess excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Show a good understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, algorithms, and concurrency.
- Are proficient in programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Rust, C/C++, or similar.
- Have experience with performance analysis tools, such as profilers and benchmarking frameworks.
- Are familiar with monitoring visualisation tools, such as Grafana, Kibana or Datadog.
- Can communicate and collaborate proficiently in English.
- Are able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
We'd Be Especially Thrilled If You
- Have hands‑on experience developing or testing compilers, virtual machines and build tooling systems.
- Have experience developing or enhancing performance monitoring platforms or tools.
- Are familiar with low-level system programming and memory management.
- Have experience with software performance optimisation.
