Job Description Summary

This role leads complex communication projects and campaigns that align with business objectives, enhance brand visibility, and manage reputation across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute robust PR and communications strategies that position PayPal as the leading voice in German eCommerce and payments.
• Build, nurture, and leverage relationships with top German media, industry influencers, and key ecosystem partners to secure media coverage.
• Serve as the primary German‑language media contact, crafting narratives that resonate on regulatory, innovation, and payments topics.
• Lead integrated communication campaigns tailored to the German market, blending earned media, social, influencer partnerships, and paid amplification.
• Proactively manage reputational risk and lead crisis communication when required.
• Collaborate with marketing, legal, product, and sales teams to amplify campaigns and align stakeholder messaging.
• Measure PR effectiveness using data‑driven insights and local market intelligence, continuously optimizing outcomes.
• Oversee relationships with external agencies, setting clear briefs and evaluating performance.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to the communications team.

Expected Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years senior experience in PR and communications, preferably in complex multi‑market financial services environments.
• Strong record in omni‑payments, digital banking, and technology innovations, with deep industry media relationships.
• Native‑level fluency in German and excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in other DEATCH languages is an asset.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams, launch major campaigns, and deliver measurable results on tight deadlines.
• Outstanding storytelling skills and reputation for thought leadership in regulated, competitive industries.
• Extensive experience managing agency partnerships and budget oversight for communications activities.
• Ability to thrive in a high‑energy, mission‑driven environment and prioritize initiatives for maximum business and reputational impact.
