We are working exclusively with a German-based Independent Power Producer (IPP) to appoint an experienced Project Director to oversee the successful delivery of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across Germany.

This is a senior position in one of the fastest-growing areas of the energy transition. The role focuses on managing multiple external contracts and stakeholders, including construction partners, OEMs, and engineering consultants, to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality project delivery that meets all German regulatory requirements.

The Role

As Project Director, you will :

  • Lead all phases of EPC project delivery for large-scale battery storage systems, from contract award through commissioning and handover.
  • Oversee and coordinate contracts with multiple external parties, including construction companies, OEMs, grid operators, and specialist consultants.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with German permitting, construction, and grid connection regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
  • Apply lessons learned and industry best practices to continually improve project outcomes.

About You

  • Fluent in German and English (spoken and written).
  • Proven track record of delivering large-scale renewable energy EPC projects in Germany; experience in BESS is ideal, but utility-scale wind or solar PV will also be considered.
  • Strong background in managing multiple external contracts and stakeholders in complex infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent commercial acumen with proven ability to manage and negotiate contractual agreements.
  • Deep understanding of German construction standards, permitting processes, and grid connection requirements.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
