About the Opportunity

A well-funded, Berlin-based software venture is seeking a Chief Technology Officer to lead technology strategy and execution as we scale our B2B platform across new markets and product verticals.

This is a pivotal leadership opportunity for a product-minded technologist who thrives in high-context environments and is motivated by building complex systems with real-world impact. With strong early traction and institutional backing, the company is entering its next phase of growth—focusing on platform scalability, data capabilities, and cross-functional integration.

The Role

As CTO, you will guide the evolution of the platform’s technical foundation and organizational structure. You'll drive architecture decisions, scale a lean but high-performing engineering team, and partner closely with product leadership to align technology with strategic goals.

The role combines executional depth with long-range vision: balancing near-term product delivery with building an extensible and secure system for the long haul.

Key Responsibilities

• Technology Strategy: Define and implement a technical roadmap aligned with company priorities—supporting both rapid iteration and long-term scalability.

• Engineering Leadership: Build and mentor a strong engineering organization, fostering a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and continuous learning.

• Platform Architecture: Design and evolve a modular, service-oriented architecture that supports performance, resilience, and independent scaling of core components.

• Product Development: Collaborate closely with product and business leads to translate evolving needs into technical solutions and roadmap priorities.

• Data Systems: Lead the development of our data function—from pipelines and analytics to ML capabilities—enabling data-driven product experiences and business decisions.

• Operational Excellence: Champion best practices in security, testing, observability, DevOps, and delivery—ensuring systems remain robust and agile under growing complexity.

• Stakeholder Alignment: Communicate technical priorities clearly to internal and external stakeholders. Support investor and partner conversations as needed.
  

What you need to succeed

• Executive-level technology leader with experience in scaling platforms and teams in high-growth, product-led environments.

• Systems thinker with hands-on experience designing and evolving distributed systems, ideally within a modern cloud-native stack.

• Strong leadership capabilities—able to build and motivate cross-functional engineering teams and foster a strong, mission-aligned culture.

• Comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels, with a bias for lean execution and iterative development.

• Proven track record in data-heavy environments, with fluency in data infrastructure, analytics, and ML-enablement.

• Deep understanding of modern development practices: CI/CD, infrastructure as code, microservices, observability, etc.

• Bonus: Experience in multi-stakeholder platforms, marketplaces, or regulated data domains.
