Business Unit

At HRS, finance is viewed as a value-enabling function essential for business success. The department ensures efficient financial management, covering responsibilities from cash flow management, accounting, advising, long-term financing, tax management, investment management, purchasing, controlling, budgeting, forecasting, to financial reporting and analysis. It supports strategic decision-making for the CEO, business unit leaders, and managers.

The finance department operates as a shared service across the HRS Group, with a cross-location team of around 50 experts led by the CFO. The team focuses on standardized workflows, decision-making tools, and fostering organizational resilience in times of rapid change.

Position

We are seeking an experienced, engaged, and ambitious Business Unit Controller (all genders) to join our fast-growing organization with a dynamic management team.

Challenges

  • Take ownership of financial controlling and steering of a business unit.
  • Challenge the status quo, drive performance and insights.
  • Improve and monitor KPIs for business steering.
  • Model scenarios and long-term planning; collaborate on budgeting.
  • Control and improve monthly closing, forecasting, and annual budget processes.
  • Conduct deviation analysis, provide comments, and recommend actions.
  • Present findings and challenge discussions in BU management meetings.
  • Consult internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in cross-departmental projects and initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Degree in business administration with a focus on finance and controlling or equivalent qualification.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Business Controlling, preferably within a SaaS company.
  • Advanced skills in transforming Excel models, ideally integrating with BI/Data Warehouse tools.
  • Growth mindset, hands-on mentality, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build credibility and trust across organizational levels.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to create actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Navision) is a plus.
  • Fluent in English, spoken and written.

Location, Mobility, Incentives

The position can be based at our Cologne HQ or Berlin office. The compensation package is competitive, including a fixed salary, work equipment, and an annual or multi-year bonus.
