Director Research and Development (all genders)

As Director of Research and Development, you will play a key role in our company, leading the Research and Development department at our Haar location. You will manage a team of engineers and scientists working on groundbreaking technologies and innovations in nanotechnology. Your leadership responsibilities include coordinating six skilled team and department leaders, each heading specialized competence teams. These teams comprise approximately 50 employees in areas such as Advanced Microscopy, Cryogenics, Electronics & Software, Actuators & Sensors, Mechanical Design, and Project Management and Coordination. Your expertise and commitment are vital to the success of our research and development projects, which form the foundation of our forward-looking products.

Your Responsibilities and Duties

• You are the innovator: As Director R&D, you are responsible for the entire product innovation process (PIP). From the initial idea to the market launch, you drive our innovations forward and make them a reality.
• R&D as a service provider: You see R&D as an internal service provider within the company. You benchmark yourself effortlessly with external development providers and offer our internal customers excellent innovation, product development and product maintenance services.
• Close coordination with stakeholders: You closely coordinate the need for development capacities and resources as well as the prioritization of development projects with the management and business unit managers. Together, we ensure that our resources are used efficiently.
• Key figure-oriented project management: Under your leadership, projects are managed based on key figures in order to increase R&D's productivity in the long term. We work efficiently and purposefully on our development projects.
• Optimizing the interfaces: You live the interfaces to sales & product management (customer requirements), purchasing and production (producibility) as well as marketing (market launch) and optimize them constantly. Smooth cooperation is important to us.
• Project management and continuous improvement: You will use the project management team to manage complex development projects and continuously improve project management skills within the team. We learn together and surpass ourselves.
• Implementation of normative requirements: You know the normative requirements of our customers and markets and implement them stringently. Quality and reliability are our top priorities.
• Market and customer orientation: You are market and customer-oriented, observe technology trends and consciously implement them in the R&D. You are also in close contact with our customers and partners. We keep our finger on the pulse and actively respond to the needs of our customers.

Your Skills and Qualifications

• You have a degree, ideally in the natural sciences, and have completed continuous further training. You have also successfully completed further training in the areas of project management and leadership.
• As a strong leader, you have extensive experience in managing larger teams and complex projects.
• Your leadership style is cooperative, while always maintaining a clear focus on goal fulfillment.
• You are confident in communicating and presenting yourself to management, stakeholders and external business partners and convincingly convey the interests of the company.
• Thanks to your business fluent English skills, you are able to operate successfully in an international environment and effectively represent our corporate goals.
