Overview

Location : Gorla Maggiore (VA), IT, 21050

Located at the Gorla Site, the Production Manager SP has the responsibility for the safe and successful production of SP products (Specialty Powders) supporting the efficiency of the processes and the continuous improvement techniques to drive development of production.

Performs all tasks assigned acting like a team leader, coordinator, coach and mentor to the team of production shift leaders and operators. Ensures the continuity and safety of operation in the area of production.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and developing a directly subordinate team
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, cost reduction
  • Compliance with the established forms of horizontal and vertical communication
  • As a member of a dynamic team, responsible for the production KPI’s and good knowledge of the shopfloor performance. Reports directly to Site Manager with Goals and KPIs
  • Ensure the execution of the production program in compliance with all Law requirements, local regulations, company policies and OE standards
  • Comply with all safety requirements resulting in ZERO Safety violations. Initiation of safety activities such as safety talks, Safety Walks, Behavioral Based Safety events and Operation Clean Sweep events
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure all members are aware of OE Safety policies to provide a safe workplace
  • Support the implementation and improvement of policies, procedures and their programs including training, in collaboration with HSE department and Prod / Process Engineer
  • Maintain and support a superior safety and housekeeping program
  • Make feasible the implementation of predictive and preventive maintenance to assure optimum plant reliability
  • Verify the status of machinery and request maintenance checks to provide a safe workplace
  • Actively collaborate with maintenance department for the preparation of work permissions
  • Actively collaborate with planning department to ensure an efficient production program optimizing the sequence of the production schedule
  • Collaboration with the laboratory to ensure high quality control of the products
  • Ensure minimization of waste products and optimization of the production timeline
  • Manage production data in ERP system (SAP)
  • Ensure correct use of safety devices for internal and external personnel
  • Maintain employee training records and update when necessary in collaboration with shift leaders
  • Conduct frequent performance assessments and provide coaching, guidance and trainings for development to all operations employees
  • Organize and conduct daily meetings regarding current orders and monthly meetings to discuss team results
  • Monitor and report production indicators (KPIs)
  • Present and discuss production results at requested meetings
  • Ensure correct and timely data collection for issuing production reports (daily, weekly and monthly)
  • Monitor and improve production yields to identify trends and areas for improvement to optimize process efficiency
  • Coordinate the team and delegate authority to secure active participation in plant management
  • Communicate and cooperate with other departments (Finance, HR, Maintenance, Labs, HSE, Logistics) to ensure budgets, staffing, maintenance, product delivery and efficient warehouse layout
  • Develop and perform safety assessments and training to ensure corporate and regulatory compliance
  • Participate in site audits
  • Back-up of the Production Manager activities in CPC department (Custom Performance Color - Masterbatches)
  • Perform duties in compliance with health / safety / environment / quality procedures and all LyondellBasell policies (Code of Ethics, PPE, HSE, OCS and BBS)
  • Ensure above procedures and policies are correctly performed by employees and by external visitors/guests

Qualifications

  • Min. Bachelor’s degree in production technology / engineering, or equal consolidated experience in the role
  • Min 5 years of experience in a similar position, managing production team
  • Proven experience in overall production process control
  • Highly effective cross functional team management (Teamwork, Communication, Collaboration, Analytical Thinking and Problem Solving)
  • The person in this position will be expected to continually develop professionally and provide guidance and mentoring to those with less production, safety and health experience
