Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Electrical System Engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. The successful candidate will perform a wide range of tasks in the Engineering Department in PISTOIA.

Accountabilities

  • Support and coordination during the bid and project development of the technical design of on‑board systems
  • Define the conceptual solution for on‑board systems based on requirements and vehicle configuration
  • Prepare system requirements specifications
  • Analyse suppliers' technical proposals
  • Check the technical descriptions of the systems
  • Verify drawings/documents (electrical, mechanical, etc.) for installation/integration on board
  • Prepare functional requirements specification for integration with TCMS
  • Prepare/verify functional type test specification & performance test specification
  • Support during system type tests
  • Support during the on‑board integration test
  • Design review with clients and suppliers

Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering
  • At least 1 year of experience in the railway industry as a Systems Engineer or Designer focused on on‑board systems
  • Basic knowledge of the disciplines related to on‑board systems design: applicable norms, power demand calculation, main electrical and mechanical configuration, knowledge of main internal components
  • Knowledge of the main regulations relating to on‑board systems in the railway business
  • Basic knowledge of electrics and mechanics
  • Related knowledge of RAMS fundamentals an advantage
  • Knowledge of office automation software/tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Recommended knowledge of electrical/mechanical design software (AutoCAD, Creo, Catia, etc.) and IBM DOORS requirements management tool
  • Knowledge of engineering processes and railway operations
  • Ability to work effectively with all organizational levels, presenting constructive and practical ideas
  • Readiness to work in a collaborative, fast‑paced, multitasking international environment
  • Ability to work autonomously in teams and for projects
  • Availability for short‑term national and international business trips

Education / Qualifications

Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical background.

Languages

Good knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory.
