Your work will support AWS’s growth in the U.S. and around the world by partnering with stakeholders across Real Estate, Legal, Risk, Water, Design, Public Policy, Construction, and Operations to develop regional and site-specific development strategies, manage environmental due diligence, and ensure compliance during design, construction, and data‑center operations.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Assess environmental risks and develop mitigations to support data‑center siting and development strategies.
- Lead environmental due diligence, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, regulatory and permitting evaluations, and natural, biological, and cultural resource evaluations.
- Deliver environmental permits, approvals, and plans to enable on‑time and compliant construction and operations for new data‑center locations and expansions.
- Communicate environmental requirements, risks, and activities to both internal and external project partners.
- Coordinate with partner teams—Design, Water, Legal, Risk, Power—to optimize site designs for natural resource or operational constraints.
- Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations to support environmental permit acquisition and regional development strategies.
- Develop, manage, and track metrics to evaluate project success.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience delivering multimedia environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance for existing sites and new development.
- 5+ years conducting environmental due diligence for greenfield and brownfield sites, including Phase I and Phase II ESAs and support for investigative and remedial activities.
- At least 3 years of project or task management experience for environmental permitting and/or due diligence projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Data‑center or critical infrastructure due diligence, design, construction, and/or risk assessment experience.
- Experience in multiple U.S. states, preferably Ohio, Missouri, and Indiana.
- Experience managing or supporting community/public interactions.
- Experience with Smartsheet or other project‑management software.
- Up to 25% travel.
- Experience working with large teams on a diverse slate of projects.

The base pay for this position ranges from $98,700 per year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,800 per year in our highest geographic market. Equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may also be provided as part of a total compensation package.
