Overview

Senior Sales Manager - Italy (Air & Ocean Freight)

Location : Italy (Flexible in terms of location)

Our client is an independent international freight forwarder growing in Italy, with strong ties to a global leader in the logistics industry. While maintaining autonomy, they leverage the resources, support, and scale of their parent company to drive growth. This client is seeking a Senior Sales Manager for their expanding Air and Ocean Freight operations. This is an exciting phase of growth for a hands-on senior commercial manager who can work autonomously and drive development of new verticals.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Approach: Drive the development and growth of multiple products and freight sales strategies, ensuring consistent business expansion in new and existing markets.
  • Business Development: Establish and grow new verticals, contributing to the ambition to expand the company’s footprint in Italy.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, including those in specialised sectors such as food and beverage, project cargo, luxury goods, etc.
  • Team Leadership: Act as a senior figure in the office, supporting a small but growing team while fostering a collaborative and high-energy sales culture.
  • Market Expansion: Identify and pursue new business opportunities across Italy, with flexibility regarding regions of focus.
  • Collaboration with a Global Leader: Leverage knowledge and support of a global leader to drive new business and support the company’s position in Italy and internationally.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Strong background in ocean freight; background in air freight is a plus, and any experience in road transport is beneficial.
  • Specialisation: Experience or specialisation in verticals such as food and beverage, project cargo, or luxury goods would be advantageous.
  • Geographic Knowledge: Ideally based in Milan, Tuscany, Venice, Genoa, or Rome, with the ability to grow business in local territories.
  • Ambition & Ethos: A driven, hands-on individual with the ambition to grow and lead within a rapidly expanding business.
