A private family based in Milan is seeking an experienced and highly organized Butler / Cook to join their household team. The successful candidate will oversee daily household operations, provide high-quality meal preparation, and ensure smooth coordination of staff and family activities. This is a live-in position, offering excellent accommodation within a separate villa on the estate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Household Management: Manage and oversee the household team, ensuring smooth daily operations
  • Take charge of household schedules, staff coordination, and service standards
  • Act as the key point of contact for the family regarding household matters

Meal Preparation

  • Prepare and cook simple, healthy meals for the family (e.g., grilled fish, fresh vegetables, curries)
  • Adhere to dietary preferences (no dairy; children occasionally eat cheese)
  • Ensure kitchen cleanliness and meal planning are maintained to a high standard

Service & Table Setting

  • Set and prepare the breakfast table (no breakfast cooking required)
  • Provide discreet and professional service during family meals and gatherings

Driving & Errands

  • Drive children to school, clubs, and activities as required
  • Assist with errands, grocery shopping, and occasional family logistics

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Prior experience in a similar role in a high-net-worth household
  • Strong leadership and management skills – able to take control while maintaining a calm, respectful presence
  • Military background or comparable experience is highly desirable
  • Flexible, discreet, and highly reliable
  • Confident driver with clean driving record
  • An EU passport is essential

  • Separate private villa on the estate, featuring multiple bedrooms, living room, and fully equipped kitchen

Benefits

  • Competitive salary: £70,000 – £95,000, dependent on experience
