Amazon Aurora is an exciting area of innovation for AWS, and the Postgres-compatible edition of Amazon Aurora is built on a robust open source code base. The Postgres-compatible version of Amazon Aurora is a relational database that offers enterprise-class performance, availability and durability to our customers, along with the management benefits of RDS. To be successful in this role, you should possess solid analytical, design and problem-diagnosis skills. Expertise with query processing and optimization and high-performance systems is a plus. You will lead multiple teams in designing, implementing, and owning high and low level system components to make Aurora Database highly available, scalable, reliable and fast. You should be comfortable hiring and building your team, mentoring junior engineers, and harmonizing operational responsibilities with innovation. The ability to translate high-level technical requirements into executable project plans is essential.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience

- 7+ years of engineering experience

- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live-site operations

- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of software engineers to improve their skills and effectiveness

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year to $287,700/year in our geographic markets. Pay is based on factors including market location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total package, in addition to a full range of benefits.
