Overview

DevOPS/Systems Engineer, Managed Operations – AWS EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda and Bedrock services for EU customers as part of the AWS Managed Operations team. You will help build and lead operations and development teams delivering high-availability AWS services. The role supports the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) initiative to provide cloud services with a focus on reliability, availability, latency, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) in 2025, collaborate with global AWS teams, and influence the evolution of AWS services and technology.
  • Work with technology leaders to enhance day-to-day operations and improve availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC.
  • Operate and improve one of the largest software systems, review operational health, and write actionable bug reports when anomalies are found.
  • Follow change management processes for production systems and implement changes only with a plan.
  • Help resolve the team’s backlog of operational issues and contribute to tooling that accelerates root-cause analysis.
  • Occasionally participate in on-call rotations to resolve incidents outside of business hours.

Eligibility requirements

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required
  • Successful applicants must have the legal right to work in Germany
  • Amazon will provide relocation support for successful applicants relocating within the European Union
  • This position involves on-call responsibility
