Secretary and Teaching Support Assistant

Transcrime , the joint research centre on crime and innovation of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, and University of Perugia, based in Milan, is looking for a Secretary and Teaching Support Assistant .

Role

The selected candidate will carry out general administrative tasks and provide support for educational activities promoted or supported by the centre, particularly for the Bachelor’s curriculum in Criminology , the Master’s curriculum in Crime & Security Analysis (CrimeSec) , and the International PhD in Criminology .

Main responsibilities

  • Managing the centre’s telephone and email communications; welcoming guests and visitors.
  • Supporting daily operations, maintaining shared spaces and classrooms.
  • Assisting in the recruitment, onboarding and offboarding processes for staff and collaborators, including organisational and logistical tasks, setting up workstations, and distributing resources.
  • Coordinating with university services (logistics, maintenance, cleaning).
  • Organising meetings and appointments, drafting and archiving documents.

Teaching support

  • Providing practical assistance to lecturers in the delivery of teaching activities (preparing materials, printing, classroom setup, technical support).
  • Supporting the use of digital tools (e.g., uploading files to platforms such as Blackboard).
  • Assisting with the logistical management of exams, seminars, workshops, and academic events.
  • Supporting the organisation of internships and placements, and maintaining relationships with public bodies, companies and partner institutions involved in educational programmes.

Required skills

  • Excellent organisational skills, accuracy, flexibility, and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with digital tools and educational platforms.
  • Previous experience of 1-2 years in a similar role, particularly in a university environment, is a plus.

Qualifications

Not mandatory; a diploma or degree in humanities, social sciences, law, economics or communication is considered an advantage.

  • Three-month trial contract, with the possibility of extension.
  • Full-time commitment, hybrid mode (on-site / remote).
  • Salary based on experience.
