Paediatric Surgeon – EMERGENCY ONG ETS

Necessary requirements: Paediatric Surgery Specialization; at least 3 years of experience in Paediatric Surgery Hospitals.

This role requires complete and autonomous management of Paediatric Surgery procedures and sharing of clinical responsibility in postoperative treatment.

Background and Organisation of Work

International Paediatric Surgeon supervises and supports local staff, trains them, and operates within the project under the Medical Coordinator. Working hours: 08:00-16:00, 6 days per week, available for emergencies. Daily activities: ward rounds, Emergency Department, and Operating Theatres. The team includes local and international anaesthesiology specialists and support staff.

Main Areas of Work

  • Operating Theatres: 3 Paediatric Surgery Rooms (emergency or elective) according to admission criteria
  • Paediatric Intensive Care Unit: 6 beds
  • Wards: 66 beds (16 sub‑ICU)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage surgical procedures
  • Participate in post‑operative care and clinical management of surgical patients
  • Tutor resident doctors
  • Assist in clinical research and record keeping as required by the scientific programmes
  • Ensure correct compilation of clinical records and statistics
  • Discuss and share clinical decisions with the Medical Coordinator and other colleagues

Management and Training of Local Personnel

Clinical activities are carried out alongside local staff who receive training in the field. Additional teaching activities are provided as agreed with the Medical Coordinator.

Case Load and Equipment

The Centre is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools, basic laboratory tests, and auxiliary services, supporting a professional level of autonomy for national staff.

Specific Requirements

  • Medical Degree
  • Specialisation in Paediatric Surgery
  • Professional experience of at least 3 years in Paediatric Surgery hospitals

Required Documentation

Applicants must submit the following along with their CV:

  • Surgical case history signed by the Hospital Health Management or Institute where you work, from the beginning of your career to the current date
  • Certificates indicating positions held in hospital settings related to clinical and non‑academic activity

Availability

6 months overseas stay, including a period of leave, to be taken at the end of the mission as agreed with the coordinator. Shorter missions may be considered for specific needs.
