Job Description: Port Reachstacker Operator - Marine Terminal

EST Europea Servizi Terminalistici S.p.A. (EST) is a leading maritime terminal operator providing integrated logistics services based in Palermo, Sicily.

Founded in 2004, EST manages six strategic terminals across Sicily, including the Augusta Maritime Terminal, the largest multipurpose container hub on the island by volume and a crucial hub in the Mediterranean for global trade.

Position Description

The Port Reachstacker Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient handling of containers and project cargo within the port terminal, using specific vehicles (Reachstacker). The role involves storage and transfer operations, ensuring operational fluidity, meeting loading/unloading deadlines, and strictly following safety regulations. It also includes coordination with the operational team and basic maintenance of equipment.

Main Responsibilities

• Operate the Reachstacker to move, store, and position containers and loads on pallets or platforms.
• Stacking and destacking containers in the yard.
• Transfer loads between ships and the yard.
• Perform pre- and post-use inspections of the equipment.
• Implement safety procedures for Reachstacker operation.
• Maintain continuous communication with yard staff, crane operators, and support personnel.
• Collaborate with ground staff, logistics operators, and safety officers.
• Report anomalies or malfunctions promptly.
• Comply with port regulations (ISPS) and safety rules.
• Apply safety protocols and manage emergencies.
• High school diploma (preferably technical/professional).
• At least 2 years of experience in maritime, port, or industrial environments using Reachstacker.
• Certification to operate Reachstacker.
• Knowledge of storage and handling methodologies for containers and general cargo.
• Proficiency in load diagrams, rigging techniques for irregular/out-of-gauge loads, and safety protocols.
• Knowledge of electronic logging systems (TOS, Terminal Operating System).
• Accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Fluent English (written and spoken) preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Specific certification for operating Reachstacker and/or port cranes (e.g., manufacturer-specific training courses).
