Overview

The HSE Associate Expert will be responsible for supporting all HSE compliance aspects at the TRD RLT laboratories. It will help ensure that Health, Safety and Environmental activities are managed according to applicable local laws and Novartis HSE Management System requirements and assist in the continuous improvement of applicable HSE Management Systems, while helping to spread our safety and environmental culture by proactively engaging associates and enhancing awareness.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the TRD RLT HSE Lead to support HSE programs across TRD IVR, Pilot Plant, and laboratories, ensuring effective implementation of policies, handbooks, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Promote HSE campaigns, conduct periodic walkthroughs, and support general HSE cultural awareness activities.
  • Draft, update, and implement HSE and Radiation Safety SOPs, ensuring alignment with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze safety and environmental performance, recommend improvement plans, and monitor the implementation of protective measures.
  • Assist Radiation Safety activities including instrument periodic controls, environmental surveys, wipe tests, spill/contamination response, waste management, and dosimetry.
  • Support emergency handling for hazards such as ionizing radiation and chemicals, coordinating with the TRD RLT HSE Lead.
  • Contribute to incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive action implementation.
  • Identify HSE risks for employees and third parties, support SAMACO and LOTOTO, and ensure strict adherence to regulatory and internal compliance standards.

Essential Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Italian proficient; English fluent
  • 1–3 years HSE experience; radiation safety experience preferred
  • Able to respond to business needs and manage stressful situations
  • Effective working independently and collaboratively in teams
  • Demonstrates helpfulness, trustworthiness, and a speak-up culture
  • Committed to continuous improvement
  • Deputizes for the TRD RLT HSE Lead
