SAP Business Analyst – Procurement and Supply Chain

Position within the World Food Programme's Technology Division, responsible for the SAP S/4HANA upgrade and procurement and supply chain processes.

Background and Purpose

The Technology Division drives digital transformation and manages the SAP ERP platform, which supports core functions including finance, logistics, budgeting and HR. An upgrade from SAP ECC 6.0 EHP 8 to SAP S/4HANA on RISE via a brown‑field approach is underway and will be fully deployed by summer 2026.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the migration of the current WINGS platform from SAP ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4HANA for the Supply Chain area (SAP MM and SD modules), ensuring business continuity while optimizing processes for S/4HANA readiness.
  • Provide oversight of activities executed by the WFP business partner, assess functional impacts, validate migrated configurations and support remediation of gaps post‑conversion.
  • Work with the business partner to analyze existing SAP Procurement and Supply‑Chain configuration, interfaces, workflows, and custom developments with particular attention to Delegation of Authority policies.
  • Participate in readiness and compatibility checks, such as Simplification List and Custom Code Analysis.
  • Identify potential functional impacts and dependencies for the S/4HANA conversion.
  • Act as primary liaison between the project team and business functions impacted by procurement and supply‑chain changes.
  • Collaborate closely with business process counterparts to ensure procurement and supply‑chain policies, including Delegation of Authority, are accurately migrated and fully supported within the S/4HANA environment.
  • Translate mandatory system and functional changes into clear, business‑understandable impacts.
  • Support decision‑making by providing impact assessments, options and recommendations.
  • Work with key business users during the review of UAT test cases and during UAT sessions to ensure coverage across procurement and supply‑chain scenarios, including UNHRD, FITTEST, insurance and aviation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prepare and deliver tailored training sessions.
  • Work closely with the technical team in planning the conversion sequence for procurement and supply‑chain related functionalities (SAP MM and SD modules).
  • Contribute to defining cut‑over strategy and downtime planning for procurement and supply‑chain‑related data and transactions.
  • Leverage deep expertise in procurement, supply chain, and logistics (MM, SD) to design IT solutions that align with user needs.
  • Proactively engage with TEC and business stakeholders to propose and prioritize process enhancements aimed at improving procurement and supply‑chain processes via digital technologies.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that may be implemented during the assignment period.
  • Facilitate clear communication of business objectives, user needs and operational processes to ensure shared understanding and timely information exchange.
  • Collaborate to present roadmap for endorsement by the TEC Demand Assessment Board.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and delivery teams to ensure clarity and feasibility of requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

Education: University degree in business administration, information technology or other related fields.

Experience: Minimum 5 years post‐graduate, progressively responsible as Business Analyst, proven record of accomplishment in development and implementation of IT applications.

Knowledge & Skills: Deep knowledge of SAP Supply Chain modules, specifically Materials Management (MM) and Sales and Distribution (SD), with a strong focus on the procurement module and its associated approval workflows. Good understanding of SAP Solution Manager and related change request management processes is desirable. Proven experience across the full IT solution lifecycle, strong business analysis skills, expertise in product and project management practices, and the ability to influence and collaborate across functional teams within matrixed environments. Experienced in coordinating and managing complex projects involving multiple vendors and delivery partners.

Languages: Fluency in oral and written English and intermediate knowledge of another UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or Portuguese.
