Position Overview

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Project Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will handle a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. This position is based in Pistoia, Italy.

Accountabilities

• Deliver the project by meeting contractual requirements, staying within budget, ensuring quality, and timely completion to ensure customer satisfaction. The Project Manager is ultimately responsible for project profit and loss.
• Identify and manage project risks, updating risk assessments periodically with support from the Risk Manager, and proposing contingency strategies to top management.
• Evaluate and allocate project risk contingencies in coordination with team members, with utilization authorized by the Project Controller.
• Manage the relationship with the customer, serving as the primary interface for all project-related matters. Coordinate all direct contacts between project team members and the customer.
• Approve the master schedule and second-level schedules prepared by the Project Planner.
• Authorize changes impacting costs, schedule, or contractual obligations.
• Manage customer variation requests from proposal to negotiation.
• Approve sub-contracts and Letters of Intent for key suppliers and legal entities, ensuring alignment with project budgets and schedules.
• Oversee the preparation of project progress reports and meetings, including financial updates from the Project Controller.
• Manage project communications and invoicing plans.
• Ensure timely delivery of products to the customer.
• Lead and motivate the project team.

Job Requirements

Skills and Knowledge

• 3-5 years of experience in project management within a medium/complex multinational organization.
• Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to develop constructive relationships with stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
• Project Management Professional (PMP or IPMA) certification is a plus.

Education and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant field.

Languages

English at C1 level or higher.
