About The Role

This position is part of DATA4’s Technical Department. Reporting to the Head of Design & Construction for Southern Europe, the Junior Project Manager plays a hands‑on role, primarily supporting the Senior Project Manager during the handover phase of data‑center construction projects in Italy. The role offers exposure to the entire project lifecycle — from permitting and design through to final delivery — providing an opportunity to learn, grow, and gradually assume greater responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of Design & Construction projects in Italy, ensuring quality, cost, and deadlines are met in close coordination with the Senior Project Manager.
  • Types of projects: Power supply infrastructure; Global campus works (underground networks, utilities, etc.); Data centers; Office buildings; Fit‑out works post‑delivery (data halls, offices).
  • Administrative Phase: Manage administrative procedures (permits, regulatory approvals); Coordinate with architects, design firms, and authorities until permits are granted.
  • Design Phase: Participate in client and internal stakeholder meetings to define requirements; Follow up on technical design and ensure alignment with project needs; Act as a liaison between Design and Operations teams.
  • Construction & Commissioning Phase: Assist in monitoring daily progress on site with the Senior PM; Ensure compliance with safety regulations and construction standards; Coordinate with key service providers; Help interface with clients (hyperscalers and large accounts); Participate in the commissioning process and internal technical handover preparation.
  • Handover & Project Reception: Support the handover process from construction to operations; Assist in collecting and verifying technical documentation; Coordinate with the Operations team to ensure smooth knowledge transfer; Participate in client reporting and ensure all required deliverables are completed and handed over; Support in organizing training and site onboarding sessions for operational teams.
  • Project steering & support: Participate in project meetings and assist in documenting decisions and follow‑up actions; Help prepare project reports in English for both internal stakeholders and clients; Assist in budget tracking and updates, in collaboration with Finance and Project teams; Contribute to improving project management tools and processes.
  • Additional missions: Support efforts related to sustainability certifications (e.g., BREEAM); Assist in implementing environmental policies (waste management, carbon reduction); Participate in Sales and Pre‑Sales activities for complex technical offers; Contribute to customer audits if needed; Help deploy internal tools (e.g., Oracle, Unifier) for project risk, reporting, and budget tracking.

RESPONSIBILITIES IN TERMS OF IMS CERTIFICATIONS

  • Respect and enforce certification policies in terms of H&S, Environment, Information security, and Energy.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Engineering degree (civil, electrical, generalist, or urban planning/development).
  • 5 years of experience, ideally with exposure to construction or real‑estate development projects.
  • First operational experience (internship or junior role) in construction, site supervision, or project coordination.
  • International exposure or adaptability to multicultural environments is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Fluent/native in Italian (mandatory) and Fluent in English (mandatory).
  • Familiar with technical construction fields: HVAC, electrical (CFO/CFA), safety, structure, finishing works.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of Oracle or Unifier is a plus.
  • Awareness of H&S regulations and sustainability practices.
