Offer Description

Ethnic inequalities represent a persistent economic, social and political divide in European societies. LUMINE intends to explore how ethnic inequalities faced by migrant workers in the labor market intersect with socio-political inequalities. Labor unions serve as focal points to examine sociopolitical inequalities among migrant workers. While labor market ethnic inequalities are well-documented, there is a noticeable gap in the literature regarding the potential role of labor unions in shaping sociopolitical inequalities. LUMINE centers on union engagement of low-skilled migrant workers in logistics, agriculture, and hospitality sectors in Europe. It seeks to understand how union engagement is associated to three key factors:

  1. individual characteristics and grievances experienced;
  2. the characteristics of the union field in incorporating migrant workers;
