Report to Jaket Engineering coordinator the Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, testing and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment used in oil and gas facilities. This includes ensuring safety, reliability and compliance with regulatory and company standards across all project phases from design and construction to commissioning and operations.

Design & Engineering

  • Review and consent to the design of electrical power distribution systems (LV, MV, HV) for oil and gas installations.
  • Review the developed single-line diagrams (SLDs), load lists, cable schedules, grounding and lighting layouts.
  • Review and approve the selected electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS batteries and motors.
  • Perform electrical system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash protection coordination).
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEC, NEC, IEEE, API, NEMA, ATEX).

Project Execution & Procurement

  • Review and approve vendor documents and technical specifications.
  • Prepare Material Requisitions (MRs), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs) and equipment datasheets.
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines, procurement and construction teams to ensure design integration.

Construction & Commissioning

  • Supervise installation of electrical systems and ensure compliance with approved designs and standards.
  • Conduct inspection, testing and pre‑commissioning of electrical equipment.
  • Participate in FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests) and SATs (Site Acceptance Tests).
  • Troubleshoot issues during installation and commissioning phases.

Operations & Maintenance

  • Support operations teams in troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems.
  • Review condition monitoring data (e.g., IR thermography, insulation resistance tests).
  • Participate in root cause analysis for electrical failures.
  • Ensure asset integrity and optimize electrical system performance over the asset lifecycle.

The follSkills & Competencies

  • In‑depth knowledge of electrical design for oil & gas environments (onshore/offshore).
  • Familiarity with hazardous area classification and equipment selection.
  • Experience with electrical system modeling software (ETAP, SKM, DigSILENT).
  • Understanding of electrical protection systems, earthing, lighting and lightning protection.
  • Strong analytical, coordination and communication skills.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
  • Work experience of five (5) years in the sought discipline after earning the university degree.
  • Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of offshore experience in total, with at least the last 35 years spent on offshore projects.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, including proven ability to write reports.
