Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated, technically savvy Fiber Engineer to help develop and scale one of the world’s largest and most complex networks.

Key job responsibilities: Our ideal candidate is highly autonomous, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, strong project management and time management skills. The desire and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment is essential.

As a Fiber Engineer, you will have the exciting opportunity to design fiber solutions and maintain records surrounding our fiber optic infrastructure using GIS and associated tools. You will:

• Interface with internal (Data Center Engineering, Business Developers, Deployment Engineers, Tool Automation) and external stakeholders (Construction Vendors, Engineering Firms)
• Create engineering design and documents, single line drawings, cable routing, and splicing work packages in a GIS system
• Ingest and audit GIS data for completeness and accuracy
• Optimize processes to improve efficiency and delivery
• Willing to travel 10% of the time

Basic Qualifications

Requirements:

• 5+ years experience in Fiber Engineering
• 2+ years experience working in GIS Systems
• 2+ years experience in project/program management with a proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels
• 2+ years of data, inventory, or records management

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred:

• Experience using GE Smallworld in GIS applications
• BS or MS degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience in an IT-related field
