SAP Project Manager – Manufacturing Materials (Governance Role) | Italy

North Point Technology is supporting a global automotive manufacturer through a multi-year SAP transformation program across Italy. This role is for an experienced SAP Project Manager to provide independent governance oversight for a high-visibility SAP material systems conversion at an Italian manufacturing plant.

This is not a hands-on configuration role. The Project Manager will be embedded with the business and responsible for delivery oversight, vendor accountability, and executive-level reporting while execution is performed by a global systems integrator.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the governance Project Manager for an SAP material systems conversion at an Italian manufacturing plant
  • Oversee systems integrator execution while maintaining zero configuration or delivery ownership
  • Provide accurate, unbiased status reporting to business and IT leadership
  • Manage schedule, scope, risks, dependencies, and escalation paths across plant and technical center workstreams
  • Actively challenge vendors when delivery risk or misalignment is identified
  • Ensure production continuity in a low-tolerance manufacturing environment
  • Coordinate with global IT, enterprise architecture, and plant leadership teams

Required Experience

  • 15+ years of SAP project or program management experience
  • Proven legacy SAP to S / 4HANA or major material systems conversion experience
  • Strong background in manufacturing and materials management environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing Accenture or other large global systems integrators
  • Experience operating in governance-only roles without configuration responsibility
  • Ability to deliver difficult messages clearly and confidently to senior leadership
  • Fluent in English; Italian proficiency strongly preferred
  • Based in Italy with ability to work on-site

Engagement Details

  • Initial engagement expected to run 12+ months
  • High likelihood of follow-on SAP projects across additional Italian plants
  • Opportunity to expand into regional ownership depending on performance
