AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services. Responsibilities

• Collaborating with multiple development teams to reliably deliver AWS services into production environments.
• Creating and improving processes for releasing, monitoring, and patching services.
• Identifying issues and driving solutions to ensure rock-solid stability and performance.

A day in the life

Our Systems Engineering roles involve applying Linux skills to solve problems, keeping software up-to-date, and providing data and metrics that help manage the capacity and efficiency of our services. You will diagnose systems-related issues, communicate clearly, and collaborate with others to deliver results. You should be self-starting, comfortable with ambiguity and change, and customer-obsessed, always seeking to understand customer pain points and resolve them quickly and completely.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or related field, or relevant work experience
Working knowledge of Linux system administration
Experience of systems automation using BASH, Python, Perl, etc
Experience of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP)
Good troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host

Preferred Qualifications

Exposure to cloud computing concepts and design considerations
Experience in a production environment
Experience of monitoring frameworks (such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic or similar)
