Job Description

What will you work on? Reporting to the VP, Global Quality, this position will lead the regulatory and quality assurance functions for Europe, Mexico, and other Non‑Asia locations while ensuring alignment with global processes and policies. This role will be the global Subject Matter Expert for regulatory compliance, including environmental programs, in Europe. Partnering closely with corporate and regional teams, this role will enable a globally unified regulatory and quality organization, constantly striving to represent the voice of the customer, balancing product excellence demand with capabilities to meet the consumer need. It will collaboratively build and support processes to manage quality, reliability and safety activities for the manufacturing locations outside of Asia for Spin Master. This position is also responsible for monitoring product performance after launch in‑region and partnering with global functions to inform required improvements and monitor execution of those improvements.

Regulatory Compliance Functions

  • Stay up‑to‑date with the latest industry trends, regulatory changes, and technologies to enhance current processes.
  • Provide education to Product Integrity Department, and other groups as needed, on product safety regulations, trends in regulations, and standards for the global marketplace.
  • Research compliance issues that impact future business.
  • Act as a key partner to the Product Integrity Engineers in North America and Quality team in Asia, providing guidance on regulatory and risk aspects of new product development.
  • Provide input on EU unique retailer requirements as needed to support new product development.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance of the existing product portfolio, validating adherence to global retailer requirements, international distribution standards and ingredient blacklists.
  • Serve as the primary regulatory liaison with external partners, including consultants, contract manufacturers, ingredient suppliers and government agencies.
  • Participate in industry committees and associations.
  • Partner closely with RD formulation teams and alert them of regulatory considerations for newly developed and existing products.
  • Develop timely solutions to address regulatory matters throughout the product life cycle.
  • Notify and train the Product Integrity and Quality teams on new or changing requirements in Europe that impact product, packaging, or other regulatory compliance concerns.

Quality Assurance Functions

  • Oversee factory audits, inspections, and certification programs for contracted factories outside of Asia.
  • Engage with Engineering teams in optimizing the supplier management program to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement effective testing methodologies to validate product performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop corrective action plans when issues arise.
  • Oversee third‑party inspection agencies.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and other projects as requested.
  • Travel to visit suppliers and/or customers as requested by your management.
  • Develop and implement procedures as requested.
  • Work closely with other functional groups such as Marketing, Customer Care, Sales, Planning and other divisions in Europe.
  • Travel to support the operational team in Bratislava on a routine basis to ensure QA issues or concerns are being addressed.

What are your skills and experience?

  • Min of 8‑10 years of experience with significant time in regulatory and quality functions, preferably in the Toy industry
  • Experienced in interfacing with regulatory agencies
  • Experience working with vendors in Asia
  • Team and project management experience
  • Data analysis experience
  • Experience with implementing and enforcing industry standards
  • Hands‑on factory experience in Quality Assurance
  • A creative and collaborative approach, always proactive whilst maintaining high energy levels
  • Excellent verbal, organizational, written and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to recognize the importance of meeting business needs and balance cost, quality and customer service
  • Ability to create a high‑performance culture
  • Collaborates well with other areas of business
