Role

A Climate Data Scientist reports to the ADIC center and is responsible for contributing to the design of innovative data science solutions and services for climate/environmental Big Data.

Responsibilities

  • Design of innovative data science solutions for climate/environmental data in HPC, Cloud and distributed environments;
  • Scouting of data science technologies for the climate/environmental domain;

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent fields;
  • Minimum of 6 years of work experience with climate data and the design of data science solutions;
  • Very good knowledge of the English language;
  • Accuracy and good analytical skills;
  • Excellent knowledge of HPC, Cloud, and distributed environments;
  • Excellent experience with climate data science solutions;
  • Good experience with Linux environment;
  • Good experience in programming with Python;
  • Experience with version control system tools (i.e., Git/GitHub);
  • Flexibility to work on a diverse range of tasks and to manage deadlines;

Duration, Compensation & Benefits

  • Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally;
  • The Managers will be based in Lecce CMCC office;
  • The appointment period will be of 12 months starting as soon as possible, renewable pending a positive evaluation, with a gross annual salary range based on qualification and working experience and competitive with major research centers in Europe;
  • Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract;
  • Flexible working time as per internal policies;
  • Support during the immigration process, if needed;

Belonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition. Some fiscal benefits could be applied for repatriated workers or foreign researchers/professors, having the requirements defined by Dlgs 147/2015 (for repatriates) or Dl 78/2010 (for foreigners).
