IFOM is an internationally recognized non-profit cancer research institute supported by the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC) based in Milan within a highly dynamic urban environment. Responsibilities
- Technician in Advanced Light Microscopy Facility to join our team.
- Main responsibilities: Daily management and maintenance of advanced light microscopy systems; Technical assistance and support for users in operating microscopes and analyzing images; Conducting microscopy experiments for research projects in collaboration with research groups; Training and mentoring users in sample preparation and the use of imaging software; Preventive maintenance and diagnostics of microscopy equipment; Collaborating with research teams to optimize imaging protocols; Managing bookings and the overall organization of the facility.

Qualifications
- Excellent skills in light microscopy, with comprehensive experience in advanced imaging techniques, image analysis and sample preparation.
- Key Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of fluorescence microscopy (wide-field, confocal)
- Proficient in time-lapse live-cell imaging and FLIM / FRET techniques
- Skilled in advanced image analysis platforms (ImageJ / Fiji, Imaris, MATLAB, etc.)
- Experience with microscope troubleshooting, optimization, and maintenance
- Strong understanding of sample preparation, staining, and labelling techniques
- Capable of training researchers and supporting microscopy-based experimental design
Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher in biological sciences, biomedical engineering, physics or a related field.
Languages
Fluent English spoken and written
Soft Skills
Communication skills, be self motivated and be eager to work in a collaborative and constructive lab environment
