About The Role

The position is part of the R&D team, which collaborates closely with the R&D departments of our customers and develops application processes for new technologies and materials—primarily coatings, but not exclusively—being introduced to the market.

The main objectives of the team include:

  • Developing processes in accordance with customer requirements or market needs
  • Demonstrating the industrial feasibility of the process through the development and production of the first batch
  • Supporting the industrialization of the developed process within the Operations areas of our facilities or directly at customer sites.

The team works in close coordination with the Rubbiano site, other plants within the Surface Solutions division and with customers worldwide.

Main Responsibilities

  • Managing development projects for advanced coatings applied to components across various industrial sectors, ensuring effective coordination with internal functions and adherence to project timelines;
  • Leading the operational development of the process (in collaboration with other departments where required), including defining process parameters and manufacturing strategies—also through the development of robotic and CNC programs—for the deposition of Thermal Spray coatings;
  • Performing process analysis in testing and operational environments, and presenting results to internal and external stakeholders through structured reports and technical presentations;
  • Preparing operating instructions and technical documentation to enable the transfer of developed processes to the Operations area;
  • Coordinating the transfer and integration of newly developed processes into Operations at company sites or customer facilities;
  • Providing technical support to Operations during process transfer and assisting in troubleshooting production-related issues.

Education And Experience

  • Master’s degree in Material Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or any related fields
  • PhD or an equivalent professional experience (preferred)

Required Skills And Competencies

  • Strong team-working skills, with the ability to adapt to dynamic environments and interest in technologically advanced industrial settings
  • Strong customer orientation (internal and external), with the ability to communicate feedback clearly and effectively, and excellent attention to detail
  • High levels of energy, motivation, and passion for production process engineering, with the ability to promote these values within the organization
  • Good command of English (both written and spoken)
  • Excellent command of Italian (both written and spoken) is mandatory
  • Strong adaptability and conflict-management capabilities
  • Availability for business travel, including multi-week assignments.

Work Environment

This job operates in both an office environment and a manufacturing environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The individual will be required to adhere to safety policies and procedures on the manufacturing floor.

Physical Demand

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 15/20 kg. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Working Hours

Full-time position, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 to 17:30, with additional hours as business needs necessitate.

Travel Requirements

National and international travel (including intercontinental travel) may be required to support the company’s rapid expansion, amounting to approximately 30–50% of annual working days. Business trips may involve multi-week stays abroad.
