Job Summary

RCD Trainee will support the Senior RCD Manager in positioning Colgate‑Palmolive as the leading and most trusted category advisor in Oral Care by developing and delivering insight‑driven Retail Category Development (RCD) services across all channels, including eRetail. The trainee will integrate multiple data sources, build category stories, contribute to customer solutions, and drive measurement, standardization, and knowledge sharing to enable commercial excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • DELIVER RCD SERVICES
  • Integrate and analyze multiple data sources (e.g., Nielsen/Circana, Vispera, shopper research, digital shelf metrics) to identify category trends and growth opportunities.
  • Support & develop local category stories by consolidating customer‑shopper knowledge and retail trends into a ready‑to‑use category story to be delivered to key customers.
  • Map knowledge gaps and propose plans with the Insight Manager to close them (e.g., Mintel, IGD, Edge; ad hoc studies).
  • Structure and automate datasets and dashboards to inform cross‑functional decisions (CD/eCommerce).
  • Support eRCD by helping define and monitor Digital Shelf guidelines and KPIs (eContent quality/compliance, Search/SEO, Ratings & Reviews, online assortment) in collaboration with eCommerce and CEX.
  • DEVELOP & DELIVER 1 WAY SERVICES
  • Contribute in developing a one‑way category knowledge sharing approach (how/what/how often… eg Newsletter/ppt pres./ other).
  • Define and manage the editorial cadence for 1‑way category knowledge sharing (e.g., newsletter, standard decks, one‑pagers).
  • Deliver format for standard category stories and maintain and update standardized templates for category stories by category/channel.
  • Finalize category stories.
  • Support in converting brand initiatives into category selling stories – right “customers’ twist.”
  • Contribute to the “Ideal Store” recommendations using Space Planning tools.
  • Prepare RCD‑ISE function induction decks for new hires.
  • Help lead and orchestrate key internal engagement meetings (e.g., strategic workshops, internal Sales meetings).
  • DEVELOP & DELIVER 2‑WAY SERVICES
  • Support in identifying customers’ category challenges and work with the insight team to uncover the “whys.” Work with RE Manager and Marketing to ensure right focus and resources allocation.
  • Contribute to 7Ps category solutions:
    • Assortment: proposals aligned with Category and RE strategies; gaps/duplication analysis.
    • Planogram: execution and simulation using Space Planning software.
    • Pricing: basic price positioning and elasticity insights where available.
    • Promotion: promo effectiveness analyses when needed.
    • PoP materials.
    • People development & induction for customers (buyer, category).
    • Partnership: help elevating internal capabilities to increase customer engagement (e.g. AGS Survey).
  • Help prepare materials for CIA, Category Teasers and strategic workshops; track progress, actions and deliverables agreed with customers, informing the commercial organization about the status.
  • Help lead and orchestrate key customer engagement meetings (e.g., CIA, Category Teasers, TTT) to present category solutions and align on joint business plans.
  • SHARE CATEGORY KNOWLEDGE INTERNALLY
  • Build internal knowledge packages (standard reports, playbooks, dashboards) in line with CP CatMan principles.
  • Provide standard report to disseminate retailers perspective internally (within the guidelines of the CP CatMan principles).
  • Provide key inputs to GTM team for NP introduction and identify assortment gaps/opportunities.
  • Support AGS workshops and strategy cascade‑downs to embed the customer voice and category priorities into team action plans.
  • TRACK & MEASURE SUCCESS
  • Define, track and report on key category performance indicators (KPIs) for both CP and the customer (e.g., category growth, market share, shopper penetration).
  • Conduct post‑implementation analysis (ROI) of RCD/eRCD initiatives to demonstrate value and refine future strategies.
  • Maintain dashboards and scorecards with a monthly/quarterly cadence.

Required Qualifications

  • Holds master degree in business or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: min. 8 months in customer development or in‑store account teams.
  • English and Italian fluent.
  • Key Competencies: Communication, Influence/Negotiation, Consumer/Customer focused, Teamwork & Collaboration, Analytical Skills and Strong English proficiency, proficiency in Excel, AI fundamentals knowledge.
