Codes & Approval Engineer

Overview

Codes & Approval Engineer – Haier Europe. The company is pursuing growth and leadership objectives in the region and is seeking a proactive, self-driven professional who embraces entrepreneurship, innovation, and ecosystem thinking. You will be a subject matter expert and the single point of contact for codes related to product, ensuring pre-compliance of designs to applicable international and local standards and coordinating the collection of reports/declarations required to issue product Declarations of Conformity for Candy and Haier branded products.

The role supports product certification, market access, and legal compliance by ensuring products meet relevant international, regional, and local standards, codes, and regulations.

What you will do

Responsibilities

• Be the subject matter expert and single point of contact for codes items related to product; assure full pre-compliance of design to international and local standards currently in place.
• Coordinate collection of all reports/declarations required to issue product Declarations of Conformity for Candy and Haier branded products.
• Act as interface with certification bodies and external laboratories (e.g., VDE, IMQ, UL) for product compliance reviews and certifications.
• Review product documentation and manuals to ensure they are codes and safety compliant.
• Provide inputs to product test plans in collaboration with the V&V function.
• Develop and implement strategies for obtaining product approvals in target markets.
• Coordinate with internal teams to compile necessary documentation for submission to regulatory authorities.
• Participate in workgroups and international committees on regulatory requirements and industry standards to ensure compliance and influence future standard evolutions.
• Serve as point of contact with regulatory agencies and third-party testing labs to facilitate product testing and certification.
• Conduct risk assessments and impact analyses to anticipate and mitigate potential approval challenges.
• Manage timelines and milestones to ensure timely approval of products for market launch.
• Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on regulatory compliance and approval processes.
• Evaluate and optimize approval workflows to ensure proper documentation is available at start of production.

What you need to succeed

Must have

Technical Skills:

• Strong knowledge of appliance-related standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with product certification processes and working with third-party labs.
• Familiarity with electrical and mechanical design principles.
• Ability to read and interpret technical standards and regulatory documents.
• Project management skills to effectively coordinate approval processes, manage timelines, and ensure compliance.

Education: Technical background, Engineering degree

Professional experience: 3–5+ years of experience in regulatory compliance or codes engineering, preferably in consumer appliances or similar industries.

Soft skills

• Good communication skills to interact with internal teams, regulatory agencies, HQD colleagues and external partners effectively
• Problem-solving abilities to anticipate and address challenges in the approval process, ensuring successful product launches
• Proactivity
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Language: Fluent English and Italian (Chinese is considered a plus)
