As a Connection Systems Lead Design Engineer, you will be part of the Global Manifold, Distribution & Connection (MDC) Systems Engineering & Technology group, dedicated to design of various subsea equipment, including manifolds and distribution systems, in particular connectors and their relevant tooling and ancillaries (clamp/hydraulic connectors, seals, hubs, caps, alignment structures, lifting/deployment equipment, testing equipment, ROV tools).
Within this organization, you will take part to the whole design cycle of subsea connection systems, from concept development to final engineering release of parts, drawings and related technical documentation, interacting with internal stakeholders and customers; eventually, you may also be required to support fabrication (including disposition of non-conformities) and installation campaigns. You will mainly contribute by creating 3D CAD models and drawings in CREO/IPEM environment, creating technical documents for internal/customer circulation, as well as preparing/managing bills of materials (BOM’s) in Teamcenter database. You will execute these activities yourself, as well as coordinating internal peers and/or external resources made available by our Engineering Services Partners (ESP’s) across the globe.
Responsibilities
- Developing designs of subsea clamp/hydraulic connectors, in line with applicable international industry standards, collaborating with internal colleagues and ESP’s.
- Arranging design reviews, providing applicable documentation on manufacturing, assembly, testing and installation of designed items.
- Knowing in depth design methodologies, quality policies and practices of subsea components with specific focus on connectors.
- Knowing and commonly applying main industry standards for subsea oil & gas industry, including ISO (in particular ISO 13628), API (in particular, specs 6A, 17D, 17R), ASME (in particular, Pressure Vessel Codes, B31.3 and B31.8), NACE (in particular, MR 0175), DNVGL (in particular, DNVGL-ST-E271, DNVGL-ST-E273, DNVGL-RP-F112, DNV-ST-F101, DNV‑RP‑B401), NORSOK, EUROCODE.
- Preparing and managing engineering tasks aimed at releasing engineering parts, drawings and documentation.
- Partnering with peers and other functions, including Project Management/Planning, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Quality, in order to meet overall company’s goals in terms of quality, budget consumption and timely delivery.
- Ensuring support during Test and Assembly activities, as appropriate.
- Owning design reviews of the assigned scope, including materials, manufacturing and product safety/environmental reviews.
- Executing disposition of non-conformances.
Qualifications
- Have a MSc. (or BSc.) from an accredited university/college in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
- Have proven experience within the oil & gas industry, preferably with direct exposure to subsea equipment.
- Have proven experience with Teamcenter, CREO, Office suite.
- Be able to work autonomously and comfortably within a global multicultural environment, with open and inclusive mindset.
- Have robust analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Be a team player attitude and inclusiveness, combined with good communication skills.
- Be able to coordinate internal and/or external contributors, aligning them towards expected overall company’s goals and outcomes.
- Proven years expertise developed on design of subsea connection systems. (Desired)
- Availability to travel when required.
