The preferred location for this position is in Trieste, Italy. When not working in the field, remote working is also an option, providing flexibility and a balanced work environment.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Service Engineer 4 Stroke your work will include advanced troubleshooting on site to isolate and determine root causes of failures in mechanical equipment related to Wärtsilä’s products; inspection of repairs to ensure work is completed correctly; and preparation of technical and travel reports. Most of the time you will be operating in the field and in direct contact with clients.

As Service Engineer, 4 Stroke, your responsibilities include:

  • Execute planned maintenance and repair jobs on Wärtsilä OEM engines and their auxiliaries.
  • Overhaul engine components on-site or on board.
  • Carry out engine troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and component investigations.
  • Check and adjust relevant systems (e.g., auxiliary systems).
  • Perform commissioning of Wärtsilä equipment.
  • Participate in the troubleshooting process.
  • Prepare service work reports and travel expense reports on time and with Wärtsilä quality.
  • Identify failures, adjust, and assist in trial runs and testing.
  • Collect and organize time and expense reports, and report to administrative personnel as required.
  • Work in accordance with company guidelines, including QEHS requirements.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have

  • Technical high school diploma in mechanics and/or BS degree in marine engineering or mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to overhaul engine components on-site or on board.
  • Previous experience in planned maintenance and repair jobs on Wärtsilä OEM engines and their auxiliaries is a plus.
  • Strong skills in engine product troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and component investigations.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
  • High motivation to learn and grow professionally.
  • A collaborative team player.
  • Ability to excel in dynamic environments.
  • Good knowledge of English and Italian.
  • Motivation to travel to our customers for at least 80% of the year, including international travel if required.
