What You Will Do

  • The Journey Enablers team sits at the heart of the Core and Commons tribe at TheFork. Our goal is to build transversal non-functional capabilities consumed by all tribes.
  • The team’s scope includes Authentication, Translation management, Transactional communications (SMS, Emails & Push notifications), Geo referential system and more.
  • The team is responsible for building the enablers strategy and ensuring the technical excellence of core components, including:
  • Designing components that are up to date with technical standards
  • Building maintainable and scalable core components
  • Building and maintaining third-party integrations with multiple providers (Twilio, Phrase, Braze, to name a few)
  • Ensuring smooth integration with customer-facing capabilities
  • Delivering tools to feature teams using our components (dev portals, documentation, guidelines, test utilities, etc.)
  • Providing technical KPIs to monitor component execution health
  • The team does not directly implement new end-user features. Instead, it supports customer-facing teams by providing new capabilities in core components as needed.
  • The Journey Enablers team currently consists of 3 senior backend engineers. The team is distributed across locations in France, with contractors in Portugal.
  • Technical stack includes: GraphQL, Node.js & TypeScript (microservices), JSON-RPC, PHP/Symfony, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, RabbitMQ, Datadog, Kubernetes and AWS.
  • As a backend engineer in the team, you are expected to contribute to the team’s roadmap and delivery, collaborate with product managers and architects, assist QA, collaborate across tribes, produce documentation, and continuously improve processes and KPIs.

You Must Meet These Critical Qualifications

  • You are an experienced software engineer with several years of backend service development experience.
  • You have a solid technical background in web technologies (3-5 years).
  • You have experience with distributed architectural patterns in a microservice environment.
  • You are rigorous, dynamic and curious with an agile mindset and strong team spirit that adapts to change.
  • You have experience building software with a problem-solving approach using customer inputs in an iterative manner (Product Discovery).
  • You understand that writing code is not your only job: you can challenge product and stakeholder decisions, think first with analysis, monitor after release, write documentation, and communicate what has been delivered.
  • You are comfortable writing and speaking in English.

You Can Impress With These Additions

  • You have strong communication skills to explain work to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • You have basic knowledge of GraphQL and PHP/Symfony (useful in this position).
  • You have a good understanding of SQL databases and SQL queries.
  • You are comfortable working in a distributed remote team across locations but within the same timezone.
