Why we need this role

This role is in the Transformation Engineering Team within the COO TOS function. It will contribute to delivering city strategies, identifying network optimisation opportunities, generating pipelines, assessing and delivering network design and migration methods, and providing network data discovery, analytics and visualisation for all network domains in the Colt network. The role will drive core network transformation, technical planning, detailed preparation, job packs and coordination of technology, and prepare designs for service migrations between network sites while managing relationships with key supporting teams such as Product, Network Architecture, Engineering, Sales, Accounts and Operations.

What You Will Do

  • Data discovery, analysis and visualisation related to network planning of multi‑technology, multi‑era transformation programmes.
  • Lead city strategy discussions, develop agreements, create business cases, set financial justifications and obtain stakeholder approvals.
  • Design and implement network analytics and technical solutions for programmes such as node programmes, network life cycle, EoL and migrations.
  • Deliver network discovery and service analytics methods and database aligned with long‑term network strategy.
  • Prepare business‑case supporting documentation (e.g., BOM, MOP).
  • Provide regular delivery progress reporting as per project and programme requirements.
  • Develop migration approaches aligned to technologies and specific network sites.
  • Produce planned and updated project and summary reports, including cost breakdowns and summaries.
  • Manage workflows for technical migration planning and execution of migration activities covering network infrastructure and customer service migrations.
  • Process development, automation and simplification.
  • Design and deliver efficiencies for the Network Transformation programme.
  • Ensure accuracy of network planning for design and cost.
  • Align network transformation planning with operational requirements of Colt's internal and external network needs.
  • Create cost‑optimised business cases with proven cost elements.
  • Drive technical and commercial innovation for network transformation programmes.

Must Haves

  • Experience in a telco service provider environment, driving transformation strategies and documenting network transformations.
  • Budget awareness and proposal capability.
  • Analytical skills to identify city‑network OPEX savings opportunities and create pipelines for execution teams.
  • Capability to build BOMs for various vendors based on network analysis.
  • Demonstrated network analysis involving BOMs for WDM (Ciena/ Infinera/ ADVA/ Nokia), Ethernet, IP (Cisco/Ciena/Nokia/Juniper) and Voice (DMS, EWSD).
  • Exposure to node/site planning for telco infrastructure.
  • Experience writing business cases and preparing cost calculations for large transformation projects such as node exits and city strategies.
  • Innovative, motivated, and able to think “out of the box.”
  • Conversant with project management methods, tools and performance measures.
  • Knowledge of key technologies and architectures deployed in the Colt network (Infinera LDN, NSN MSP, MMSP, IP, etc.).
  • Proficiency in MS‑Excel and Visio.
  • Advantageous if hands‑on in VBA, Power BI, Python, Qlik, etc.
  • Experience in planning and implementing large‑scale network transformation programmes.

  • Knowledge of Colt’s internal processes and systems used for change management, delivery and network inventory management.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunication, Electrical, IT, Computer Science or a relevant field.
