Background

Founded in 2020, Development Alert is a GlobalGiving vetted and Myriad USA Fiscally sponsored Nonprofit Organization (Registration No 80034317810527) involved in empowering underserved rural communities in Uganda on livelihoods improvement and environment conservation. The headquarters of DA is in Tororo, Uganda.

Mission

Provide a comprehensive and sustainable reprieve of poverty, biodiversity loss, misfortune, disability, destitution and hopelessness experienced by individuals, communities and environment in partnership with organizations involved in the same.

Vision

Development Alert exists to address the causes of poverty, biodiversity loss, and marginalization and their consequence.

Objective

The overall objective is to promote the social, economic, health, and environmental wellbeing for livelihoods improvement and nature conservation among the poor (women and men), persons with disabilities, children, and the youth in Tororo District and Uganda as a whole. We are a partner with Global Joy Giving, a philanthropic initiative from the USA.

• Education (sponsorship, supply of scholastic materials, promoting literacy, construction of school infrastructure among others)
• Promoting access to clean and safe water
• Economic empowerment

• Promoting environmental conservation initiatives

Key Impact Highlights

• Provides over 800 disadvantaged children with school supplies annually
• Drilled a borehole that supplies clean water to more than 1,000 villagers
• Repaired 8 boreholes providing over 4,000 people with clean water
• Delivers nutritious meals to 1,200 schoolchildren each year
• Issued interest‑free microloans to 100 rural entrepreneurs
• Equipped 9 young tailors with sewing machines and startup capital
• Planted 13,000+ trees

Position: Volunteer Ambassador

We are looking for passionate and dedicated Volunteer Ambassadors to help expand our global reach and champion our mission. As an ambassador, you will represent Development Alert online, help promote our GlobalGiving campaigns, and mobilize supporters for our impact areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Raise awareness about DA’s mission, campaigns, and achievements
• Promote our fundraising campaigns across social media, online communities, and personal networks
• Help recruit new volunteers and supporters
• Share stories, updates, and impact highlights to inspire engagement
• Represent Development Alert in a positive, professional manner
• Contribute ideas to strengthen global outreach and fundraising efforts

Ideal Candidate

• Passionate about global development, humanitarian work, and community empowerment
• Strong communication or social media skills
• Self‑motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently
• Creative and enthusiastic about advocacy and digital outreach
• Open to learning and collaborating with a diverse global team
