Your Role and Responsibilities

In the Local Division Energy Industries, providing solutions and services that automate, digitalize and electrify industry, you will manage a team of designers/engineers to deliver high quality, cost effective and timely engineering automation solutions to customers. Formulate plan, allocate resources to meet the agreed contractual and financial targets. Ensure team's compliance with standard processes, procedures, practices and safety requirements. Initiate and drive continuous improvement activities across teams in conjunction with technical sales support, increase the collaboration with Service and Digital operations team to improve resource sharing and knowledge transfer.

Work model: Hybrid

  • Leading engineering teams that are responsible for automation and electrical greenfield and brownfield evolution projects including AI-driven applications, ensuring end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of projects on time. Provides direction to the teams with a focus on standardization, safety, on-time delivery, quality, and margin improvement.
  • With the main responsibility of a full integration of engineering teams, ensuring that they are adequately resourced, developed and equipped to meet business needs, with a focus on innovative AI and machine learning solutions, through training, mentoring, and shadowing programs. Oversees planning and control process in the engineering teams. Conducts regular reviews to ensure that the teams are delivering work according to the customer and ABB requirements.
  • Initiating, coordinating, driving, and overseeing continual improvement of processes and procedures to strengthen the engineering/design capability and efficiency; utilize agile methodologies to reduce engineering lead time, and enhance functional safety and cybersecurity.
  • Providing engineering support during the bid phase and ensuring that the resources required to deliver the technical solutions are correctly accounted (e.g., Plant automation including ST/GT turbines, safety, cybersecurity, technical competence, quality, schedule, and cost requirements).

Qualifications for the Role

  • You have over 10 years of combined experience in engineering and leadership roles, supported by a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering.
  • You are technically skilled in Automation and Electrical solutions within Oil & Gas, Chemical, and Power Generation industries.
  • You like leveraging artificial intelligence tools to enhance human performance and streamline workflows.
  • You have a solid understanding of IT/IS fundamentals, including PC configuration, cybersecurity, and basic network engineering.
  • You are experienced in working with multicultural teams and fostering inclusive engagement.
  • You have a proven ability to define, implement, and execute KPIs that drive operational excellence.
  • You are at ease communicating in both Italian and English, with a customer-focused mindset that builds strong, lasting relationships inside and outside ABB.
