Offer Description

The position targets the design and evaluation of novel architectures, programming paradigms, and parallel algorithms for AI accelerators, addressing the inefficiencies of von Neumann systems.

The successful candidate will contribute to EU-funded research on:

Computer system architectures & AI accelerators (NoC topology, task placement, communication algorithms)

Parallel programming models and runtimes for emerging architectures (e.g., processing-in-memory, SRAM-centric)

Performance modelling & optimisation of ML algorithms on unconventional accelerators

Hardware–software co-design for AI and transformer-based models.

Responsibilities

Conduct cutting-edge research in parallel computing and AI accelerators

Develop and lead externally funded projects

Teach and supervise at undergraduate, master’s, and PhD levels

Collaborate with academic and industrial partners

Disseminate results in top-tier conferences and journals

Requirements

  • PhD in Computer Science, Information Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields (or equivalent foreign degree). Candidates completing a PhD within 6 months may apply.
  • Up to 6 publications submitted with the application in top-tier venues and journals

Research proposal (max 6 pages) in one of the following areas:

Parallel programming models and runtimes for AI accelerators;

Algorithms and data structures for AI kernels;

Scalable systems for machine learning (training, inference, edge);

HW-SW co-design for computer vision on novel architectures;

Desired skills

  • Advanced knowledge in computer architecture
  • Parallel programming of HPC/AI accelerators (CUDA, OpenMP, SYCL, etc.)

Salary
Gross annual: €39,224
