Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a cross‑functional team developing an innovative device for a major client in the pharmaceutical/biotech sector. This is a hands‑on, design‑focused role where you’ll contribute directly to the engineering and validation of a cutting‑edge product with real‑world impact.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team (Mechanical, Electrical, NPI, Industrial Design, and Testing).
• Lead the mechanical design of new medical devices from concept to verification.
• Deliver high‑quality technical documentation supported by simulations and/or lab testing.
• Participate actively in design reviews and project meetings with the customer.
• Investigate emerging technologies and engage with suppliers for innovative solutions.
• Ensure designs meet regulatory, quality, and manufacturability requirements.

Key skills and experience

• MSc (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years’ experience in mechanical design for Medical Devices or Combination Products.
• Proficiency with CREO and/or SolidWorks (highly skilled).
• Expertise in dimensioning, tolerancing (GD&T), and statistical tolerance analysis.
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) — particularly for injection‑molded or high‑volume parts.
• Experience in Design Control, Risk Management, V&V, and Process Validation.
• Familiarity with Good Documentation Practice and Good Manufacturing Practice.
• Hands‑on experience with prototyping and test sample fabrication.
• Proactive, self‑driven, and collaborative mindset.
• Excellent communication skills in English (Italian is a plus).

Contract for 3 months initially, with the possibility of working remotely after the contract has started.
