Legal Counsel – Metlen Energy & Metals

METLEN Energy & Metals is a global industrial and energy company focused on the energy transition and green metallurgy. We are seeking a motivated Legal Counsel to join our Legal Technical Contracts team in Milan.

Responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate EPC and O&M contracts and supply‑chain agreements (e.g., service contracts, general terms and conditions) to protect client interests in collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Provide legal support across the Renewables Business Unit, covering business development, origination, permitting, M&A, corporate transactions, PPAs, project financing, and construction—primarily in Italy and Eastern Europe.
• Advise stakeholders on legal frameworks, regulations, and compliance matters relevant to the construction and energy sectors.
• Conduct in‑depth legal research to ensure counsel is aligned with the latest legislation and regulatory developments, in coordination with the Senior Legal Counsel.
• Collaborate with external legal advisors to address and resolve complex legal matters.
• Coordinate and structure legal workflows and responsibilities in close alignment with the Senior Legal Counsel and Head of Legal.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer in Italy and member of the relevant professional body (Bar Association).
• Minimum of 3–5 years of legal experience in the renewable energy sector in Italy, either in‑house or in law firms advising energy clients.
• Strong technical expertise in renewable energy project development, acquisitions and disposals, EPC and O&M contracts, and PPAs, ideally with exposure to Italian and broader European markets.
• Proven ability to manage external legal counsel, including obtaining fee quotes and overseeing legal spend within predefined budgets.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment with a strong focus on collaboration and cross‑functional coordination.
