Overview

Chemical Engineer - Junior Project Manager role at RINA in Rome, Italy within the Energy Asset Integrity Project Management Division.

Responsibilities

  • Project Execution: Define and clarify project objectives, scope, and deliverables, developing roadmaps that guide successful project execution.
  • Manage and coordinate resources, timelines, and activities across diverse teams to align with project goals.
  • Provide strategic oversight and proactive resolutions to high-level project issues, keeping leadership informed of significant developments and outcomes.
  • Resource Management: Collaborate with department leads to ascertain resource availability and balance workloads.
  • Monitor resource utilization and discuss support needs with department leads to prevent overburdening the team.
  • Client and Stakeholder Communication: Act as primary client contact, manage expectations, deliver progress reports and risk assessments, and facilitate information flow between project teams and senior leadership.
  • Financial Oversight: Maintain project budgets, analyze financial performance, adjust expenditures as needed, and prepare financial reports and projections.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities to maintain profitability while ensuring compliance with financial standards.
  • Risk and Quality Management: Lead risk management, establish quality standards, conduct evaluations, and drive root cause analysis with corrective actions when needed.
  • Supervision and Guidance: Operate with initiative, mentor associate project managers, and promote professional development within the team.

Education and Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management Engineering.
  • A Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering is described as essential for this role.
  • +2 years' experience in an engineering or technical role within a project-focused environment; cross-functional teamwork experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in English and Italian.
  • Strong command of project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Lean) and ability to tailor approaches to project needs.
  • Ability to manage schedules, resources, and budgets with strong organizational skills.
  • Experience in project lifecycle management, including requirements gathering, risk management, quality control, and change management.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, practices, and regulatory requirements in IT, construction, and engineering.
  • Professional project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner) and Agile certification (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster) are advantageous.
  • Experience in Asset Integrity projects (Inspection, Maintenance, & Operation Engineering Services) is highly valued.
