GRS Recruitment is excited to present an incredible opportunity for an Operations Supervisor to join a dynamic logistics company in Nicosia. Our client is a private firm specializing in import/export services, and they are seeking a motivated individual to enhance their operations team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Freight Tasks:

  • Supervise all import and export freight operations (air and ocean)
  • Maintain good relations with clients
  • Participate in acquiring new business deals
  • Book space with carriers for cargo transport
  • Oversee the process of imported and exported goods
  • Solve day-to-day problems related to consignments
  • Oversee loading and discharge of consignments
  • Liaise with third parties for air or sea transport according to customer requirements
  • Arrange payment of freight and charges, or collection of payments, in coordination with accounting
  • Prepare freight manifests and submit to concerned parties
  • Prepare and present periodic productivity and performance reports
  • Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers
  • Assist clients with claims
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and factors affecting freight
  • Manage job opening, invoicing, cost recording, and job closing

Shipping Tasks:

  • Control vessel creation in port authority systems
  • Prepare vessel recapitulation reports
  • Submit load/discharge plans and related documents
  • Send sailing reports after vessel departure
  • Close discharging lists and TDR in the system
  • Occasionally supervise vessel operations at port
  • Perform duties related to customs regulations and others as requested by management
  • Coordinate daily updates with the direct manager

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Ports and Maritime Transportation
  • 6-8 years of experience in shipping and operations
  • Positive attitude
  • People-oriented and detail-oriented
  • Organized with efficient time management
  • Flexible working hours
  • Knowledge of multimodal freight concepts
  • Knowledge of port authority procedures and regulations
  • Proficiency in foreign languages
  • Internal contacts: team, operations, top management
  • External contacts: vessels, clients, terminals, port authorities, carriers, NVOCC, warehouse operators
