As a Senior Application Engineer, you ensure that our IoT gateway hardware and firmware integrate smoothly with vehicle sensors across last‑mile delivery fleets and commercial trucks. By driving all technical requirements and validation, you help ensure the hardware performs flawlessly in real‑world operations. Your work directly supports safer vehicles, smarter tire management, and more efficient fleet performance.
What you’ll do
- Coordinate Technical Engineering needs with the business units of Goodyear, capture user stories, make technical proposals and review implementation with the team and corresponding suppliers.
- Coordinate and prioritize all work to successfully release new hardware or software features.
- Review with other Goodyear engineering teams, hardware support for new feature development and integration. Support vehicle integration including reverse engineering.
- Monitor key hardware KPIs in fleet testing, process cloud data, and manage dashboard design for best engineering support.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of product and process. Bring system requirements from fleet solutions to the hardware and software engineering teams.
Basic qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of experience in designing and testing automotive systems, including system debugging and root‑cause analysis.
- Proficient in data processing and scripting languages such as Python.
- Strong knowledge of automotive CAN bus, standard protocols (UDS, OBD‑II), and working familiarity with automotive development processes (A‑SPICE, ISO 26262, Scrum).
- Self‑motivated, adaptable, and creative problem solver with excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, a learning mindset, and a strong interest in IoT, software‑defined vehicles (SDV), and the automotive industry.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with IoT or telematics devices is an asset.
- Experience in automotive hardware/system engineering (signal conditioning, data acquisition, data transmission, environmental testing, certifications).
- Knowledge of wireless data transmission systems (LTE 4G, Bluetooth LE, Wi‑Fi) and related network protocols.
