Purpose of the job

Ensure the design, adaptation and maintenance of the port's electrical systems and infrastructure, guaranteeing safety, continuity of service and regulatory compliance. Coordinate with the maintenance team and support the management of scheduled and unscheduled electrical maintenance work.

Responsabilities

  • Design and supervise electrical systems for quays, operational areas and port facilities (lighting, LV/MV distribution, power supply columns, switchboards, monitoring systems).
  • Ensure compliance with CEI, IEC and EN standards and the requirements of port and maritime authorities.
  • Manage routine and extraordinary electrical maintenance of port systems.
  • Draw up electrical diagrams, technical reports, maintenance plans and documentation for testing.
  • Coordinate teams of technicians, designers and external suppliers.
  • Support tendering and technical procurement activities by preparing documentation and electrical specifications.
  • Plan project timescales, costs and priorities in agreement with technical and operational management.
  • Supervise field work and verify the correct execution of activities.
  • Promote efficient and sustainable technological solutions (LED lighting, automation, renewable energy sources, shore power).
  • Design and supervise CCTV systems in coordination with the IT Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The electrical manager will collaborate with and supervise the systems and installations coordinator for the electrical area only, as well as internal and external electrical maintenance personnel.

Key Performance Measures

  • Improve the energy efficiency of port facilities.
  • Reduce plant downtime and optimise preventive maintenance.
  • Update technical documentation and internal procedures in accordance with the latest CEI regulations.
  • Implement remote monitoring and predictive diagnostics systems.
  • Develop green and digital infrastructure modernisation projects.

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel (<15%)

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or technical diploma with proven experience in the electrical sector.
  • At least 5 years' experience in the design or maintenance of complex electrical systems (preferably in an industrial or port environment).

Technical Skills & Knowledge Required (specific skills and knowledge required for the position)

  • Excellent knowledge of CEI regulations and electrical safety directives.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software (EPLAN, SPAC, AutoCAD Electrical, etc.).
  • Knowledge of LV and MV distribution systems, generator sets, UPS and automation systems.
  • Experience in public lighting systems, ship power supply columns (shore connection), electrical fire-fighting systems and energy monitoring systems is welcome.
  • Knowledge of port safety regulations (Legislative Decree 81/08, specific risks).
  • Knowledge of basic IT systems and interconnection with LV electrical systems.

Preferred skills

  • Knowledge of advanced automation systems and remote control of port facilities.
  • Experience with energy efficiency and sustainability technologies.
  • Ability to use maintenance management software.
  • PLC programming.
  • Ability to liaise with certification bodies and maritime authorities.

Language Requirements

  • Written and spoken English.

  • Valid EU work permit. (Ex.)
  • Willing to relocate to Trieste at short notice
