Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled engineer to join our Numerical Naval Architecture group. The successful candidate will be involved in various activities related to ship survivability modelling and analysis.

The new hire will be trained to use a ship survivability code, build naval ship models for survivability studies, perform survivability analyses, and implement and test new features of the code.

Additionally, the engineer will work on global/local FEM analyses, including air-blast, underwater shock & whipping studies.

The team consists of survivability and structural experts with diverse backgrounds and seniority levels, and the new hire will contribute to R&D projects and technical consultancy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ship survivability modelling and analysis
  • FEM modelling and analysis
  • Compilation of technical documents presenting results of studies/numerical simulations
  • Cooperation in preparation of technical proposals for commercial jobs and research activities
  • Participation in meetings with customers and project partners

Qualifications and Skills

To be considered for this role, you must have a Master Degree / PhD in naval architecture / mechanical / aerospace engineering or similar field.

Additionally, you should possess experience/interest in development, validation, industrial application of numerical methods, an attitude to team working, problem-solving and supporting customers/project partners, and good understanding of technical drawings (e.g. general arrangements).

A basic command of English, written and spoken, is required.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with FEM codes, especially MSC Patran, Nastran and Marc Mentat
  • Experience with CAD codes, especially Rhinoceros or Microstation
  • Good command of English, both written and verbal
